From the recording One By One
Lyrics
One By One
One By one they’re moving out into the open air
Two by two I see them dancing in the crowded square
And one day maybe you’ll see me
And you may want to take me there
In groups of three they’re all speaking words we all hope to hear
There’s always a moment to be brave before we disappear
And every night I’ll close my eyes and think of you and you’ll be there
But in the real world- there’s something to be said
But in the real world, nothings getting said but goodbye
And sometimes not even that.
So many people to write off,
so, you have plenty of time to pretend
that somebody just might get in,
but it’s over before it begins.
Who you claim to be doesn’t affect me
If I never get the chance to try.
One By one they’re moving out into the open air
Two by two I see them dancing in the crowded square
And one day maybe you’ll see me
And you may want to take me there
